How the Coach keeps you safe

What the Coach is, what it does when it sees a sign of risk, and what we keep about those moments.

Effective October 4, 2026 ยท Version 1.0

What the Coach is

The Coach is an AI. It is not a person, doctor, nurse, dietitian or therapist, and it does not claim to be one. It cannot diagnose you, prescribe, or replace your care team.

If you are in danger

Call 911. For thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The Get help button in the app header is always available and shows these numbers.

What the app does when it sees a sign of risk

Chronos checks the messages you send the Coach with a safety system. Photo-only messages are not scanned. It looks for five kinds of crisis (thoughts of suicide, self-harm, violence, abuse, and a medical emergency) and three kinds of concern (low mood, substance use, and disordered eating). No check is perfect.

The Coach is designed not to give dosing or diagnosis advice, and not to shame you about weight or food. It can still make mistakes, so please check with your clinician.

What we keep about these moments

When the safety system flags a message, we record a safety category and a time with a random code, so we can check that the system works. These records are kept 45 days in our database, and some log lines are kept for up to about 6 years. The message itself is in our secured AI request log for 30 days, and may be in the safety review queue described in the Privacy Policy. Crisis messages are not exempt from this storage.

Adults only, and not therapy

Chronos is for people 18 and older. It is a wellness coach, not mental health treatment, and it does not offer counseling or therapy. If you are struggling, a licensed professional can help.

Tell us if something worries you
